How many of us have ever sat down at our keyword wanting to put out some good content for our readers and been struck with writers block? I’d be surprised if everyone didn’t suffer from at least one occurrence.  It’s a tough challenge we bloggers face, how to blog frequently enough with quality content in order to build and maintain a relevant readership.

Like many of you I too struggle with this challenge but recently I was re-introduced to a site that is starting to help me get past writers block and really enjoy blogging and tweeting again.  I’m guessing that many of you may already be familiar with it but if your like me, the last time you discovered it, you were to busy to really pay attention to the goldmine that lay before you.

The site I’m talking about is Guy Kowasaki’s www.alltop.com and this is about the third time I came across it but this time was more timely and relevant because it happened at a time when I was suffering from Tweeters block and looking for some good sources of content. This site now boasts 700 categories of content and you can setup your own page which tracks those categories/topics that are important to you and your readers.

I hope you find this site as benficial as I have and you can use it to help stimulate some great blog posts and tweets in the days ahead.

Here is an alphabetical list of companies who are hiring with links to their jobs.

In just the past few weeks there have been a number of announcements regarding companies in the recruiting space either getting additional financing or being acquired. With unemployment near 10% many employment marketing companies and agencies are really struggling right now which makes them cheaper to buy. I was happy and sad to see one of my favorites get acquired recently, Cheezhead.  I’ll miss Joel’s industry insight and comments.

The other big thing I see affecting this activity is that recruiting is going through a change as more and more companies are moving some of their time and budgets towards social media methods. As usual in our great economy, it’s generally the smaller, if not start up companies that tend to lead the field in new technologies, just ask Microsoft. That said, as many of the larger more established recruitment marketing companies try to figure out how to make social media a viable strategy for themselves and their clients, many are finding out it is easier and faster to buy the smaller companies who already get it.

The good news is that a flurry of acquisitions tend to occur when there are bargains or when the price for the business assets is at a low point due to economic conditions in an industry.  If this is true, maybe we will begin to see a return to real job growth sometime soon.

Stay tuned, I think we’ll see at least a half dozen more acquisitions in the recruiting space before the end of the year. Let’s hope all of this activity ultimately makes it easier for people to find good jobs!

I thought this was a good video to help people understand what Twitter is all about.

Well, not exactly. I got a chance to work the concession stand at the ballpark where my son plays little league baseball. It didn’t pay very well, zero, but it was a ton of fun and I got to see a lot of great parents, great kids and parts of two great baseball games.

… and yes, I love ACDC and my son and I went to their concert in January and it was awesome!

Someone asked this question the other day and I didn’t have a good answer so I wanted to get some feedback from the recruiters out there. The question was; “Do out-of-state resumes automatically go in the trash?”
